Have You Heard? Honda April Fool’s Joke Rides Rollerblades

A Great April Fool’s Day Gag

Honda invited its fans to check out the throwback Honda Pastport this past April Fool’s Day. That should have been our first clue.

With a backdrop of zig zags and scribbles reminiscent of the intro to*insert ‘90s sitcom name here*, ‘90s lovers could easily intuit the Pastport’s theme.

Wait, Fred Savage!?!

When the promo name-drops Fred Savage as being the “official voice” of the Honda brand, there’s no longer any doubt. (Fans will remember Savage from the hit ‘90s show, The Wonder Years).

In the satirical video depicting the (totally fictional) throwback model, a Day-Glo decked roller blader does pirouettes attempting to check out its interior.

When he does, he sees a variety of outdated features like  

• Coin holder (wow)
• Digital Clock
• Beeper Mount
• Navigation System (which ends up being a fold-out map)
• A/C (yes, A/C)
• one button on the steering wheel, the horn!

The YouTube video ends when Day-Glo rollerblader shows off his CDs and—wait for it—places an order for his all-new Pastport on an oversized cellphone.

At the very least, all the hi-jinx proves that Honda has a sense of humor.
