2016 Honda Ridgeline Release Date

We previously mentioned Honda announced a next-generation Honda Ridgeline would be coming in “less than two years” and it looks like that time is just about up. Honda has skipped over 2015, saving the unveiling of their 2016 Honda Ridgeline redesign for next year. Not much has currently been revealed, but rumor has it this second generation Honda Ridgeline will follow closer to traditional truck layouts.

This isn’t to say they are giving up on the closed-box unibody platform style which gave the original Honda Ridgeline its claim to fame. Fans of this vehicle can expect the newest edition to offer the same smooth ride that made previous models so appealing. Honda is keeping their lips tightly sealed on exact changes to the remodel, but they have hinted that the exterior has undergone a change that will make it fit with traditional truck proportions, while the interior and driving feel will remain on par with what was provided in previous models.

The next generation of the Honda Pilot is also expected for 2016, with their redesign including a 3.5L V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Given the intense hype over this combo, we strongly suspect Honda to include it as an option for the 2016 Honda Ridgeline as well.

Another rumor we’re strongly hoping will prove true is the potential for the next-generation Honda Ridgeline to include a diesel option. They’ve recently been focusing on the development of their Earth Dreams Technology to improve the fuel-efficiency and environmental impact in their engines across the board, and with their competition making headway in fuel-economy and safety technology in newer pickup trucks, it seems reasonable to suspect Honda will want to make the second generation of their Ridgeline as ground-breaking as the first one was.

The expected release date for the 2016 Honda Ridgeline is as early as Fall 2015, but it may not hit dealership lots until early 2016. Pricing is expected to start around $31,000.
