4 Most Popular Summer Festivals
With that warmer weather and the sun shining, we just can’t wait for summer to arrive! One of the our reasons for loving summer so much (besides the gorgeous weather) is that there are so many fun festivals in the area.
From street fairs showcasing the area’s history and culture to food fests offering different seasonal flavors to everything in between, there is no shortage of Washington summer festivals. While all of them lead to a great time, we’ve compiled a list of some of our must-attend summertime festivals. So read on to discover the next festival you should attend.
Light up the Sky
While we know this event is technically not in summer (actual date is May 13, 2017), we just had to add The Lantern Fest to our list! It’s here in Spokane where thousands of visitors will gather and light up the night sky with hundreds of biodegradable lanterns. Released into the sky to fill hopes, dreams, and regrets, it’s quite the spectacle. This event also has live music, dancing, s’mores, and other snacks from local vendors.
Celebrate All Summer Long
For an entire month starting in June, Seattle residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions that will appeal to just about everyone. At Seafair, visitors can experience a marathon, a half marathon, a derby, a triathlon, a maritime celebration, and dozens of other events. One of the most popular attractions at Seafair is the delicious barbecue served each day. Being the largest fair and dubbed as one of the top 20 Washington USA events and festivals, Seafair is definitely one event that you won’t want to miss!
Dance in the Streets
Another popular Seattle summertime festival is the Fremont Fair. This annual street fair allows visitors to explore the neighborhood of Fremont while listening to local bands, watching the talents of local artists, and eating delicious food. Going to this festival will also allow you to experience Fremont’s culture, dubbed as “delibertas quirkas” – trust us, you’ll have to see it to believe it. So come celebrate the summer solstice with us on June 17 and June 18!
Experience a Little Bit of Holland
It’s in Lynden where you will not only feel as if you’ve traveled to Holland, but also get to celebrate the largest harvest of raspberries in North America. The annual Raspberry Festival allows you to eat delicious raspberries and ice cream, watch a basketball and golf tournament, and listen to jazz music.
Other event attractions include a petting zoo and wagon rides for children, wine tasting, a street market and sidewalk sale, a cruise-in car show, and much more! Whether you love raspberries or simply love getting into the summer spirit, the Raspberry Festival is one fun event!
From lanterns to barbecues to street fairs, this list is just a sampling of the festivals held in Washington throughout the summer. Did we miss one of your go-to summertime fests? Tell us in the comments below!
