1. A Complete Makeover

If you found prior models to lack the features and looks you wanted, the 2017 CR-V gets a total makeover this year. 2017 marks the fifth generation of one of Honda’s top sellers. The interior becomes more elegant, trading sharp lines for smoother curves and an overall sportier look. It also grows slightly in length, providing more legroom and cargo space than fourth generation models. All in all, it’s a welcomed makeover that will turn heads and make the CR-V more versatile than ever.

For drivers who can’t live without their phones, the CR-V provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which seamlessly connect you to your mobile device. In 2017, the EX, EX-L, and Touring trim levels get a brand new engine that’s based off the turbocharged workhorse behind the Honda Civic. Under the hood, the CR-V sports a hearty, turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that boasts a whopping 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. It’s the most powerful engine ever placed in a CR-V, providing a bit of extra oomph for smooth acceleration and even some extra towing power.

If you’re on a tighter budget, the base model LX still offers a robust 2.4-liter four-cylinder that churns out 185 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. However, driving purists should opt for the turbocharger.

4. Top-Notch Safety Features

The safety-conscious will enjoy the bevy of features on the 2017 Honda CR-V. The EX, EX-L, and Touring trims provide Honda Sensing, which is the automaker’s state-of-the-art active safety suite. This provides plenty of preventive safety attributes such as lane-keep assist, road-departure mitigation, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. If you have trouble changing lanes or merging, there’s an available blind spot monitor to boot.

The LX model doesn’t have these extra safety measures, but it’s still loaded with air bags throughout the cabin and a strong ACE frame to limit damage to the vehicle and avoid injury during a collision.
