Civic Beginnings to HR-V Adventures

December 26th, 2023 by

Every car I’ve owned tells a story, a unique tale woven from the roads traveled and the memories
created along the way.

Selectable Driving Modes

Initially, my driving journey began with a used Honda Civic, equipped with convenient features like an
electric parking brake with automatic brake hold for traffic jams, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with
traction control for enhanced safety, and more. However, after seven years passed, my desire for
adventure led me to seek out a new, more versatile car. As I considered my options, advice from well informed
friends guided me towards the Honda HR-V. This was an easy transition as it shared many
features with my Civic, which ensured a familiar and easy adaptation, and minimized the learning curve.
As a bonus, the car came with a feature called a “3-Mode Drive System” which had 3 modes — ECON,
Normal, and Snow mode — that helped me to adjust to my travel needs.

HR-V Driving in the great outdoors

With all that and my HR-V’s recently updated 2.0L 4-cylinder CVT engine with 158 horsepower, visiting
friends turned into fun excursions. During one visit, we adventurously explored gravel roads and caught
up on life as we sat comfortably in our 38 inches of headroom and 37.7 to 41.9 inches of legroom. When
we reached our destination, we comfortably spread out our sleeping bags in the ample 55.1 cubic feet
of cargo space and enjoyed a snug night filled with silly high school memories. On the way back to the
house we danced around and belted out tunes to my friend’s music, effortlessly streaming through the
car’s Bluetooth feature, as we passed car after car and mile after mile. With laughter still echoing and
hearts full of renewed connections, our journey ended, wrapping up one of my first memorable tales in
my HR-V.

After a couple months passed, I took another trip to visit a faraway cousin, who really liked
paddleboarding. As we woke up for the morning, I grabbed my keys and used the remote engine start to
warm up the car while we got ready for the day and threw together a quick breakfast. Glad that I had
purchased my car with roof rails, we were able to quickly throw the paddleboards onto the roof and
head to the local lake. At first, we just enjoyed a quiet ride around the lake, but as the day got hotter,
we started to slash and wrestle each other until we both fell into the lake. After changing into dry
clothes, we threw all our wet items onto my HR-V’s All-Season Floor Mats and headed back home,
bringing my car’s second fun tale to a close.

Each car I’ve owned, from my Honda Civic to the HR-V, have been a cherished chapter in my life’s story
as these vehicles have not only been a means of transport but a canvas for memories — from late-night
chats and lakeside escapades to the melody of friendship and family echoing down open roads.
