Honda adds a Special Edition trim to the 2016 Honda CR-V
2016 Honda CR-V Special Edition Features
It’s a new model year, which means a handful of changes across the Honda lineup. The Honda CR-V just received a refresh during the 2015 model year, which means it doesn’t have as many changes as some other models within the new lineup, but there is one thing to get excited about: a new special edition trim level. You’ll see this trim listed as the SE, and it takes its place between the LX and EX. This means you can expect the 2016 Honda CR-V Special Edition features to bridge the gap between these trims for an upgrade from the base options that doesn’t break the bank.
Base trim levels remain popular for a reason. Many of us want to get behind the wheel of a vehicle listed at the lowest price we see, and upgrades are more of a convenience than a necessity, especially when higher trims can add on thousands of dollars.
The starting MSRP of the 2016 Honda CR-V has gone up for this model year, but not by much. It’s still an affordable full-size option that is available as both a two-wheel and four-wheel drive option for every trim level. While the entry-level LX option comes in at $23,595* for the model year, the Special Edition trim is only $800 more, starting at $24,395. Clearly, you aren’t looking at an expensive upgrade, but a few changes and extra options to personalize the model for your family.
Features of the 2016 Honda CR-V Special Edition
Color options may be superficial, but the LX trim only offers four colors this year, and they are all neutral tones. The SE trim level offers eight color options in metallic or pearl finishes. Depending on the color chosen, the interior color can be gray, black or beige.

Standard features in the LX include a remote entry system, power windows and locks, cruise control, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, speed sensitive volume control, a multi-angle review camera, and Eco Assist. The SE receives all these same features, but adds on rear privacy glass, 17-inch alloy wheels and a security system. Both the wheels and privacy glass add style to the trim level, while the privacy glass also adds on the benefit of keeping the rear area cool and hiding items that might appeal to potential thieves. The security system, too, helps deter criminals.
