Honda Announces Return of the LX Trim to Civic and CR-V Models

As everything seems to be getting more expensive, it’s refreshing when a company offers affordable options for customers. That’s exactly what Honda is doing by reintroducing the LX trim on the Civic and CR-V, bringing the base model price down a significant amount for both without sacrificing too much. It’s especially good news as vehicle pricing has skyrocketed amid production shortages and increased demand, making their new offerings more affordable and more available.

What’s Included with LX Trims?

By offering a lower-priced base model, Honda is accomplishing two goals in one. First, by lowering the price for customers, they’re making it more achievable to own a new vehicle. What they’re really doing, though, is removing some features that make production easier. By leaving off those features that may be harder to produce, Honda is able to increase production numbers and increase availability across the U.S. While chip shortages are slowly coming to an end, it’s still a legitimate problem for auto manufacturers, and removing those items allows them to meet high demands.

The 2023 CR-V LX reduces the introductory price by $3,200 for a starting MSRP of $29,705. Part of the price reduction comes from the removal of some features like a sunroof and power seats, although it’s not lacking in other categories. For example, it still comes equipped with the Honda Sensing safety suite as well as high-tech features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There’s a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, as well.

When it comes to the Civic LX, the price drops slightly less by $1,400 for both the sedan and hatchback. That makes the starting price for the sedan $24,545 and the hatchback $25,545. Much like the CR-V, the Civic will be without some convenience features of higher trims. However, it has the same 2L 4-Cylinder engine with an automatic transmission as other trims like the Sport. Honda hasn’t officially released a specs list for the Civic LX, but models are currently in transit and the full list should be available soon.
