Honda has officially begun mass production of the highly-anticipated, all-new 2019 Honda Insight at its Indiana manufacturing facility. Honda Manufacturing of Indiana will complete final assembly of Insight models for the North American market, with Honda’s plants in Ohio supporting the manufacture of its powertrain.1 The Greensburg, Indiana facility received a building expansion and additional capabilities to support production of the Insight’s electrical systems including its high-voltage wiring, battery unit, and power control system. The Insight’s production is the result of a $61.5 million investment that Honda has made at its Indiana and Ohio plants in order to support its continued efforts in electrified vehicles; Honda plans that by around 2030, two-thirds of its vehicles sold globally will be electrified.

“The new Honda Insight exemplifies our growing investment in the production of electrified vehicles in America and our associates in Indiana are proud to play a key role in this initiative,” said Isao Matsuzaki, President of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana. “As the lead plant for Insight production globally, we are committed to delivering the quality and reliability that our customers expect.”

The 2019 Insight offers an intriguing blend of efficiency and refinement. Powered by Honda’s two-motor hybrid system, the Insight’s innovative powertrain delivers a total system output of 151 horsepower, with a projected 55-mpg rating in the city.2 Drivers can feel good about choosing a more environmentally-friendly car, without sacrificing any of the modern style, comfort, and amenities that they have come to expect from today’s vehicles.

Styling & Body

The Insight’s sleek design incorporates a low, wide stance with a coupe-like roofline, dynamic character lines, and bold, modern styling throughout. The sedan has been engineered to offer a premium character in a compact body, with smooth ride quality, a quiet cabin, and efficient operation.

Comfort

The Insight features an elegantly-appointed cabin, with high-quality, soft-touch materials used throughout. Its ergonomically-sculpted seats are available in leather-trimmed and heated varieties. Plus, the Insight offers best-in-class rear legroom at 37.4 inches due to its generous 106.3 inch wheelbase.

Amenities

The Insight is available in three trim levels: LX, EX, and Touring. Each trim includes the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance and safety technology as standard equipment, which includes Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance System, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Insight also offers integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard features include full LED headlights, a 7-inch driver information display integrated into the instrument cluster, and a multi-angle rearview camera. The top-of-the-line Touring trim offers an uncompromised feature set, including a power moonroof, rain-sensing wipers, perforated leather seating, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and more.

The 2019 Insight is the fifth new electrified vehicle that Honda has introduced over the last 18 months, joining the Clarity Fuel Cell, Clarity Electric, Clarity Plug-In Hybrid, and Accord Hybrid. All-new Insight models are expected to begin arriving at Honda dealerships across the US in early summer 2018.
