Honda Begins Production of 2019 Insight Sedan
Honda has officially begun mass production of the highly-anticipated, all-new 2019 Honda Insight at its Indiana manufacturing facility. Honda Manufacturing of Indiana will complete final assembly of Insight models for the North American market, with Honda’s plants in Ohio supporting the manufacture of its powertrain.1 The Greensburg, Indiana facility received a building expansion and additional capabilities to support production of the Insight’s electrical systems including its high-voltage wiring, battery unit, and power control system. The Insight’s production is the result of a $61.5 million investment that Honda has made at its Indiana and Ohio plants in order to support its continued efforts in electrified vehicles; Honda plans that by around 2030, two-thirds of its vehicles sold globally will be electrified.
“The new Honda Insight exemplifies our growing investment in the production of electrified vehicles in America and our associates in Indiana are proud to play a key role in this initiative,” said Isao Matsuzaki, President of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana. “As the lead plant for Insight production globally, we are committed to delivering the quality and reliability that our customers expect.”
