Here's What Makes the Honda Pilot the Perfect SUV
The Honda Pilot is a crossover SUV with three rows of seats and an abundance of space inside for its passengers. The 2017 comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the models with the 8-inch touchscreen, and the rest of the models stay the same as they were for 2016. There are a lot of things to love about the Honda Pilot, and here are some reasons why it is the perfect SUV.
The Luxurious Interior
The Pilot’s cabin includes high-quality soft-touch materials no matter what trim you get. The seats are comfortable, and it offers a quiet ride for a luxury car feel. The third row is easy to access with a one-touch folding feature on the second row. There is a large center console with a huge amount of storage space, and a hidden cargo area behind the third row adds extra cargo space. A reversible cover has carpet on one side and stows away at the bottom of the cargo well when you need the extra space.
The Variety of Trim Levels
The Pilot comes in five different trim levels, so you can get just the basics or add more convenience and luxury features. The base level LX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 5-inch central display screen and Bluetooth for phone and audio. Bump up to the EX for some extra safety features, three-zone climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen display with HondaLink. The EX-L adds a sunroof, a power tailgate, and leather seats. It also adds a one-touch sliding second row. The Touring model adds roof rails and noise reducing glass along with some more safety features, and the Elite model comes with LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, and heated and ventilated front seats.
The Engine and Performance
The base engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 that generates 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The lower trims come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, but if you opt for the high-end Touring model, you’ll get a smooth shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. The six-speed with all-wheel drive will get you 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. The nine-speed will get 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Safety Features
The Honda Pilot offers a wide range of standard and optional safety features. The EX trim comes with automatic headlights and the Honda LaneWatch blind-spot camera along with a dynamic rear-view camera. Both the EX and EX-L offer the option to add the Honda Sensing suite of driver aids including forward-collision warning, a road departure warning and intervention feature, and lane departure warning with intervention. The top-of-the-line Elite model replaces the LaneWatch system with a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and it adds automatic windshield wipers.
These are just a few reasons the Honda Pilot is the Perfect SUV. Whether you need a large vehicle for a family or you need the space and off-road capabilities for weekend adventures, the Pilot will fit the bill.
