What You Should Know About Honda's Clarity Fuel Cell

January 26th, 2017 by

Hybrid ParkingTimes are changing, and Honda’s progressive nature refuses to leave its label in the dust, hence, the release of the 2017 Clarity Fuel Cell. While this vehicle runs on hydrogen instead of gasoline, it retains the flowing exterior, bold grille, and LED lights of its gasoline-fueled brothers and sisters. This sedan begs to be labeled the modern car for the people. As always, Honda diverges from the typical path to create a roadway to excellence, not relying on its competitors to pave the way.

Fuel Cell Technology

Hydrogen from the tank combines with oxygen in the air to fuel the vehicle. A compact fuel cell stack, confined to the space under the hood, does not reduce legroom for any of the five passengers. Currently, fuel stations only dot the California coast. As demand rises, the hope is that a driver anywhere in the nation will have the opportunity to lease or own a hydrogen-run vehicle.

Innovation

Honda assures its customer base that this car has been thoroughly tested and meets safety requirements, even though the fuel source is still foreign to many people. Global safety standards and precautions for alternative-fuel vehicles directed the creation and execution of this automobile. Impressive technologies, such as a plasma cluster ionizer that combats germs and odors, ensure this vehicle is well ahead of its peers down to the tiniest molecule.

Technology

With an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible touch-screen display, drivers can verbally call, text, get directions, and more. The HondaLink App displays real-time fuel levels, the car’s location, and the programmed cabin temperature. StationFinder, which is available on the app, identifies and navigates to your nearest fueling station. The head-up display shows your speed on the windshield, so you don’t have to look away from the road to check the speedometer.

Perks

With a three-year lease, enjoy a credit for up to a $15,000 value of hydrogen fuel. In addition, receive a maximum of 21 days of complimentary luxury vehicle use from Avis throughout your Clarity lease contract. Moreover, due to the economic benefit of choosing a hydrogen engine instead of a gas one, the California Department of Motor Vehicles allows Clarity drivers to ride in the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes even as a lone occupant of the car. The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project provides up to a $5,000 rebate for eligible California residents.

Exterior

The form of this vehicle mimics a bird with its wings tucked in. The bold LED headlights define the front end and create a vehicle that resembles a gas engine. High-strength components protect the passengers with a durable frame while decreasing the weight of the vehicle, so it goes further with each fill-up. Red LED taillights emit a brilliant glow that those following you will admire.

Although this dynamic four-door is only offered in California at this time, the benefits of owning a hydrogen vehicle will soon roll over to other states. By supporting Honda initiatives, you open up options for people in your neck of the woods.
