Reasons to Love the 2018 Accord
Honda gave the Accord a complete makeover for 2018. This midsize sedan not only received a new look on the outside, but it also got some interior updates, new safety features, and some additional technology. Here are five things to love about the 2018 Accord.
The New Exterior Look
The 2018 Accord has a longer wheelbase than the previous models, and it is wider than before. It also happens to be shorter and lower, but the longer wheelbase increases the interior space. On the outside, it has a more athletic stance with sculpted sides, a low hood, and a raked windshield. All these updates give it a sleek look, and when you add the more upright front fascia, it looks more dynamic from any angle. Honda also made features such as a moon roof, LED headlights and taillights, and remote start standard on all trim levels.
The New Engine
Honda replaced the V-6 engine with a new 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. This produces 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Since Honda tuned it for low-end torque, it doesn’t need premium gas, and Honda pairs it with a new 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. If you choose the Sport trim, there is also a six-speed manual available as an option.
The Upgraded Interior
The wider wheelbase adds extra room in the cabin, with a huge amount of legroom even for larger back seat passengers. Premium materials cover the surfaces throughout the car to give it an upscale feel. To give passengers a smoother and quieter ride, Honda added sound insulation and upgraded the suspension. The driver gets a 12-way power adjustable seat, and both front seats come with heating and cooling.
The Added Safety Equipment
All the models now come standard with the Honda Sensing safety technology, including the base trims. This comes with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera. The gas-powered models will also come standard with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and certain trims will make rear parking sensors and driver-awareness monitoring available as options. The higher-end Touring trim also offers a 6-inch head-up display.
The 2018 Honda Accord comes with the latest technology, including an updated infotainment system. A new 8-inch touch screen sits up high on the dash, so it is easy to see, and it hangs on to physical buttons for easy tuning and volume adjustment. The new Accord comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with several additional apps, and a 7-inch information display for the driver. You can also get wireless device charging, Wi-Fi, and automatic Bluetooth phone pairing.
The HondaLink Telematics system also received an upgrade and includes emergency roadside assistance, remote locking and unlocking, and remote diagnostics and geofencing.
Honda gave us a lot of things to love about the 2018 Accord. It has a new sleeker look, a more powerful engine, and more safety technology than ever. Passengers can also enjoy the upgraded entertainment technology while they ride.
