The New Honda Passport Is (Just About) Here

The all-new #HondaPassport is the perfect SUV for taking the boss to lunch or the crew to the mountains.
Honda is expanding its award-winning light-truck lineup with the new Passport, available for purchase during the early stages of 2019.

What is Honda Passport?

So what exactly is the new Honda Passport?

We’re glad you asked.

Henio Arcangeli Jr. (Senior Vice President of American Honda) and Jay Joseph (Head of Honda’s Automobile Product Planning Team) had much to say regarding the subject during the Passport’s big YouTube reveal.

“(While the overall look of the Passport) is familiar, sharing a lot with (Honda’s) Pilot… key styling cues and (a) unique stance and proportions communicate Passport’s more rugged mission,” Joseph said.

He then cited the Passport’s:

  • Foundation, which rests on Honda’s global light-truck platform
  • Rugged, fully-boxed floor section
  • Superior on-road ride quality
  • Exclusive design details like Black-Out Grille and Front Bumper treatment, 20”-inch Standard Wheels and Tires, standard LED taillights, Dual Chrome Exhaust Outlets, and more.

More New Honda Passport Features

Tech touchpoints include available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Integration, as well as available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System.

There’s also Honda’s latest Display Audio System (EX-L level and up), Digital Driver’s Meter (standard), and a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with a bird’s-eye view (standard) that’s ideal for backing up to a trailer.

Enthusiasts will be happy to learn that the Passport boasts the largest Passenger Volume (115.9) and the largest combined Passenger and Cargo Volume in its class (157.1). This means that the Passport can seat up to five. Other key interior features include Basement Cargo Hold (the largest hidden cargo storage in the class), one-touch fold-down 60/40 Split Rear Seatback, and a versatile Carpet/ Hard Surface Cargo Floor.

Exterior points of interest include Power Lift-Gate with Hands-Free Operation (trim dependent), available Roof Rails and Gloss-Black Wheels, Full-LED Exterior Lighting (standard), and a color pallet that includes options like Deep Scarlet Pearl.

Performance + Engine

The Honda Passport is in the top two of its class when it comes to standard horsepower and its 3.5L V6 engine boasts 280 hp. AWD models use i-VTM4 Torque Vectoring which actively sends torque to the wheel or wheels that are most needing it.

Intelligent Traction Management System offers snow, sand, and mud modes for enhanced off-road handling.

Wondering how much can a Honda Passport tow? Its standard towing capacity is 3,500 lbs.

Adding the Accessory Tow Package to the Passport’s Touring trim gives you a 5,000 lb. towing capacity, enabling your jet skis, dirt bikes, or small trailer to make the trip with you.

What is Honda Sensing?

With Honda Sensing, you can rest assured that smart tech is keeping an eye out for you.

The exclusive safety suite consists of:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Forward Collision Warning

When will Honda Passport be available?
