Honda Civic FAQs

What Kind of Vehicle is the Civic?

The Honda Civic is in the compact sedan class of vehicles. Compact sedans are one of the smaller classes of cars, a step down from midsize sedans like the Accord. Ones like the Civic have sporty driving dynamics and can efficiently handle various driving conditions, whether highway cruising or stop-and-go traffic in the city.

What is New for the 2024 Model Year?

One of the biggest changes to the Civic for the 2024 model year is the addition of a hybrid powertrain. It isn’t the standard powertrain, but it is available for those drivers who want it. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know what kind of power the hybrid powertrain will have or what the miles per gallon will end up being.

Though not brand new for the 2024 model year, Honda did redesign the Civic just a couple of years back. If you haven’t checked out the Civic in a while, you’ll be able to see for the first time a sleeker and more modern appearance that certainly catches the eye without sticking out too much.

What Are the Civic’s Engine Specs?

As mentioned, we don’t yet have figures for the hybrid powertrain but we do know the details for the gasoline model. For that, you’ll have your choice of two different engines. The first is a 2.0-liter inline-4 that is capable of delivering up to 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 1.5-liter turbocharger unit, available on the EX and Touring trims, that can crank out up to 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Whether you opt for the sedan or hatchback variations of the Civic, these figures remain the same.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Civic is one of few vehicles in the U.S. today still available with a manual transmission. If you like a more pure driving experience, you can opt for the 6-speed manual on the Sport of Sport Touring trim levels.

What Does the Civic Have for Infotainment?

Inside, the Civic will no doubt have the latest technology in terms of infotainment. This means an available 9-inch touch screen that allows you access to your favorite smartphone apps through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Is the 2024 Civic Safe?

When it comes to safety, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is one of the best sources for crash test ratings. Though the IIHS doesn’t yet have a rating for the 2024 model, they did name the 2023 Civic a Top Safety Pick. Furthermore, you can expect the Civic to be available with the latest advanced safety tech, including a blind spot monitoring system and automatic braking system.
