2023 Honda HR-V Updated Interior & Exterior Design

As you’re likely already aware, the 2023 Honda HR-V was completely redesigned for the current model year as it entered its third generation. While we covered a lot of what’s new in the model last month, we didn’t go into a lot of details regarding the updated interior & exterior design. So, that’s where we wanted to focus this month, as the vehicle’s design is probably the most drastically updated aspect of the third-generation HR-V. Without further ado, let’s dive into the enhanced style of the 2023 Honda HR-V!

Exterior Style

The updated design of the 2023 Honda HR-V starts with its architecture. The vehicle has increased in size both side to side and front to back, with an extra 2.6” of width and 9.4” of length. These new proportions are aided by other design enhancements to create a broad-shouldered stance. Other changes aiding this include an extended hood, a lowered horizontal beltline, new wide-set LED headlights and taillights, a sculpted hatch with a tailgate spoiler and more.

On the front fascia, a pair of air curtain inlets encapsulate a newly designed grille. These not only enhance the vehicle’s design, but improve aerodynamics as well. You might also notice the lack of roof moldings and visible windshield wipers. The former is thanks to laser-brazing technology while the latter are hidden beneath the hood unless triggered.

Furthermore, the exterior design is enhanced depending on which trim level you choose, as each one features some unique design cues.

Interior Cabin

On the inside, engineers wanted to make the cabin look both clean and sporty while adhering to the brand’s current design philosophy: simplicity and something. But keeping things simple doesn’t mean you can’t use premium materials, which can be found throughout the vehicle’s interior. A big point of improvement was on the driver’s visibility, which is often hampered in subcompact crossovers. It was enhanced in the HR-V due to a number of updates, including the low cowl, expansive greenhouse, repositioned exterior mirrors and redesigned instrument cluster.

That new cluster is set in front of a metal dashboard accent adopting the design of a honeycomb mesh, hiding the air vents to enhance that clean aesthetic for which the engineers were looking. Another problem often affecting small utility vehicles like the HR-V is a cramped rear seat, but designers made this area wider in the all-new model to provide more space to passengers. The standard rear cargo area found behind the back seats has also increased in size to 24.4 cubic feet, or 55.1 cu. ft. with those seats folded flat.
